Awareness Events, Campaigns, and Activities
A series of high visibility awareness building activities to support development of our mobile screening concept and digital awareness efforts. From our specialized organizational wellness presentation, to car & bike shows and rides & rallies. There are many ways to lend your voice to the fight for men's lives and against the men's health disparity.
Men live nearly six years less than women. Biological differences, gender socialization, higher risk occupations, lifestyle choices, access to care, and “deaths of despair” all play a role. Some of the top killers of men include:
-
Heart Disease – men get heart disease about 10 years earlier than women.
-
Lung Cancer – men are more likely to have (military, agricultural, etc.) jobs that come into close prolonged contact with chemicals.
-
Prostate Cancer – confusion around screening and access to care result in many men dying from this often survivable cancer.
-
Injuries – high-risk occupations and substance abuse make men far more likely to have unintentional injuries.
-
Chronic conditions – diseases like diabetes and COPD are both more common in men.
-
Suicide – Men are up to four times more likely to die by suicide.
